2018 FEAST MENDOCINO in POINT ARENA

Nov 4, Sunday Franny’s Farmhouse Dinner at 215 Main
This Feast Mendocino-themed dinner will start with a shaved brussels sprouts, arugula and pomegranate salad with buttermilk
dressing followed by the main course of balsamic glazed roasted chanterelles and polenta. Dessert will be date and persimmon sticky toffee pudding. Serving every half hour from 5:00-8:00. $32 per person; guests must be 21 or over. Reservations are required and can be made at 707-882-2500.

A special mushroom and beer-pairing menu will be available during
the festival. If you order any mushroom menu item, you will get a
10 ounce beer for just $1.00, specially paired with the item.

Lisa’s delectable mushroom soup will be available to purchase
frozen, in quarts and pints. This Italian Crimini Mushroom Soup
is vegan and gluten-free, and its ingredients include a roasted
vegetable broth infused with Marsala and Mediterranean herbs,
organic vegetables and lots of sliced Crimini mushrooms.

Nov 2, Friday Paint with a Giraffe at B. Bryan Preserve
1:30 pm Take a break from mushroom hunting to get creative and up close with a majestic giraffe! This is a rare opportunity to hold a canvas while our gifted giraffe ‘paints’ it. You will go home with an 8” x 10” masterpiece that may look like a mushroom! Sessions last 45 minutes. $50/person. Reservations required.

Join Oz Farm for a weekend of fermentation and food preservation. We’ll use Oz grown produce as we explore the art of making kimchi, sauerkraut, and sourdough. Learn all about hard cider as we tour the heirloom orchard, Oz Farm Cider Mill, and have a cider tasting. Participants will leave with new skills, recipes, and some of their home made creations. Nov 3, Saturday Cider Mill Tour at Oz Farm 2:00 pm Stroll through the organic espaliered apple orchards and cider mill at Oz Farm, learn about the processing and fermentation process and the 50+ apple varietals that make Oz Farm’s unique cider. $5/person

Nov 4, Sunday Farm Foraging & Fermentation Workshop at Windy Hollow Farm
2:00-4:30 pm Spend an afternoon at Windy Hollow Farm foraging for wild foods and herbs, sampling farm fresh fermented treats, and making a sauerkraut to take home. Start by looking for early mushrooms and medicinal herbs followed by a hands-on demonstration of different methods for making kraut. The day will close with a fermented food tasting including different types of sauerkraut, fermented roots, and wild mushroom sourdough pizzettas baked in the cob oven. Workshop hosted and taught by Jennifer Ketring of Windy Hollow Farm, Gillian Nye of Roots Herbal Apothecary and local forager, Jed Ivy. Cost is $45 per person and pre-registration is required. Register online at www.windyhollowfarm or call 707-353-0143.
